Raw Knights Pro Highlights Presented By Rebel

From the ABA:

An electrifying finals day at the 2014 RAW Knights Beach Pro saw Joe Clarke (Qld) take out the ABA Pro Tour 3-Star rated event in clean and punchy three-to-four feet waves (1.5 meters) at Port Elliot, South Australia.

Knights beach local Marshal Watson was runner-up with Lachlan Cramsie (Qld) third and Cade Sharp (Qld) fourth.

Joe made his intentions clear from the moment the final got underway by boosting into an 8.67.

He then used his explosive and polished attack to notch up a 9.07 for a high-speed flip in the final and earned himself $1000 for the win plus valuable ABA Pro Tour rankings points.

“I’m so happy to have got this win, it has been a while,” laughed Joe.

“The waves were pretty sick out here today and I managed to find two good waves that allowed me to lock in decent scores at the start. I’m so stoked.”

Marshall Watson almost made it two-from-two, but Clarke wrapped up the final when he sent his opposition into combo-land with eight minutes remaining.

The Knights Beach local was left chasing two solid scores to take the event win after dominating early.

“It’s been an awesome weekend, and I’m stoked with my result” said Marshall.

2014 was the seventh year the event has run at the renowned Knights Beach wedge and every year it has pumped out quality waves for the competitors.

ABA General Manager Ben Oborne was ecstatic with the contest.

“That was an awesome day and we’ll definitely be doing it again next year,” said Ben.

“It sets up the final events in WA as NSW as the ultimate showdown”.

The next event on the 2014 ABA Pro Tour will be in Mandurah, WA in June and entry for that event is available now

Saturday was a no go.

Terry McKenna did an amazing job on the mic all weekend. Here he is just about to kick things off on the Sunday, with a new swell filling in making for some great competetive conditions.

…And so it begins! Fun wedges were on offer all day.

Knights Sun 3
Rolls were the go-to move of the event, with the heavy sections and churning shorebreak making it tough to complete the more advanced manouvers.

Knights Sun 4
The natural ampitheater made for some great viewing and the crowd grew quickly during the day.

Knights Sun 5
Every rider stepped up and took on the heavier sections that presented themselves regularly…

…Though sometimes self-preservation was the best course of action.

Lining up another roll, but you didn’t see much after this frame, with most of the riders disappearing under the thick lip.

…But every now again the timing was spot on and some high scores were dropping.

Joe Clarke with a rare invert that earned him his 8.67 on his way to combo the field in the final.

Knights Sun 16
Last years champion Marshall Watson found a cheeky barrell to slide into second place.

Knights Sun 17
Lachlan Cramsie was at his best all event and was unlucky not to come away with second after a number of strong waves in the final including this huge backflip.

In the end Joe Clark was too good and took out the Title for 2014.
