QLD State Bodyboarding Titles to kick off this weekend

2015 Queensland Bodyboarding Titles on the Gold Coast

Early forecast modules indicate promising signs of a great weekend of waves for the Gold Coast, which will make for an exciting wrap up to the premiere State Bodyboarding Title Series.

Queensland’s iconic bodyboarder and former A.B.A World Tour athlete Mitch Rawlins believes that Queensland’s next crop of professional Bodyboarders are destined to tackle the worlds best in years to come.

“The variety of waves in QLD will always produce that next prodigal son to take on the worlds best in all kinds of conditions, its just the way it goes,”  former A.B.A World Tour Athlete Mitch Rawlins said.

This weekend will see the likes of former Queensland Team athletes Eric Roy (Palm Beach, QLD) and Jai Huntley (South Golden Beach, NSW) among a stacked pool of competitors vying for their chance to represent Queensland and compete against rival states at the Australian Surf Festival.

A tie in last year’s cadets (Under 16) series ratings points between Jai Huntley and Jasper Hinchcliffe (Kingscliff, NSW) saw hairs being split with officials forced to count back to the highest heat total within each respective final. In the end it was Jai who scored higher and thus taking top spot on the 2014 series ratings for his division.

Huntley will defend his championship this weekend in a bid to gain back to back series championships as well as those all important bragging rights, fending off a skillful pool of competitors within his division.

The Queensland State Bodyboarding Titles presented by BSC is the event that will determine the Queensland Bodyboarding team to compete at the biggest gathering of surfers and bodyboarders in the country at the Australian Surf Festival held from July 31-August 17 at Coffs Harbor.
