Some of WA’s best bodyboarders will converge in Perth for their last chance to gain qualification for the upcoming Australian Bodyboard Titles to be held from the 14th to the 17th of August in Coffs Harbour, NSW.

The SunSmart WA Bodyboard Titles have developed into one of the most exciting event series on the Surfing WA events calendar, attracting international profile athletes such as Lewy Finnegan (Ocean Reef), Davis Blackwell (Mandurah), Joe Jordanoff (Dunsborough) and Ben Veitch (Margaret River) at the last two events.

After the starting at Yallingup back in March, the series then travelled to Mandurah, with the final event set to be held along the beach breaks between Trigg and Scarborough.

“After great success at last years Nationals, the positions into the WA Bodyboard Team will be hotly contested this weekend,” said Surfing WA events manager Justin Majeks. “The forecast is pointing towards light winds and a moderate size swell for competitors to strut their stuff in.”

Local hopes this weekend include; Kyle Ward (Joondalup), Blake Gerrard (Mindarie), Nathan Hutchins (Ocean Reef), Jake Metcalfe (City Beach) and Daniel Steel (Yanchep). All of which will be out to make the most of a home ground advantage in Perth.

Top rated regional competitors; Noah Symmans (Albany), Lachie Breakey (Dunsborough) and Mandurah trio, Brad Harrington, Henry Gibson and Ryan Hands will also be the ones to watch when competition gets underway at 8am Saturday morning.

The SunSmart WA Bodyboard Titles offers competitors a chance to compete in some of the best waves the state has to offer, whilst also mixing it up with some of the best up and coming talent in Australia.
