In the latest in a long line of non-endemic partnerships in bodyboarding, three-time world champion, style guru and savvy businessman, Ben Player, has inked a deal with German luxury car marker, BMW.
The 36-year-old will be rolling into the car parks of his favourite Sydney and South Coast haunts in a BMW X6 M Series Sports Activity Vehicle – which retails for a cool $185,000.
“Bodyboarding is a sport that is sometimes overlooked so I’m super excited that an incredible brand like BMW has decided to take me on as brand ambassador,” Player said.
“I guess it’s a good fit though, BMW are a progressive and innovative company with roots of style and power, so it kind of makes sense that they get behind our sport as we are from the same fundamentals.
“Chasing swells up and down the coast is going to be so much more exciting and fun in the luxury of this beautiful machine. I’m one lucky guy.”
Player will be a BMW ambassador for the month of July as part of a trial period.
It is not the first time a car company has been involved in the world of bodyboarding. Recently Jake Stone signed a deal with Japanese car-maker Subaru which saw the dual ABA Pro Tour champion cruising between surf sessions in a Forrester All Wheel Drive.
