The Brazilian beach break of Posto 5 – or P5 to the locals – is steeped in its country’s bodyboarding history.
It is the home break to six-time world champion Guilherme Tamega, who said “if you can learn to ride at P5, you can ride any wave in the world.”
Since Tamega shined the spotlight on the humble Copacabana beach break, a whole new generation of Brazilian grommets now call P5 their local. They surf it religiously in the hope of one day emulating the successes of the legendary Tamega.
Local filmer João Ricardo focuses the lens on some of the next generation of Brazilian riders in this short clip, Hope, which was shot during a recent swell at the beach break.
