Reigning APB Pro Junior world champion Socrates Santana has walked away with a large sum of cash after winning Brazil’s most popular television show “Huck’s Cauldron”.
The 17-year-old from the Favelas of Rio de Janiero featured on the television show hosted by Brazilian celebrity Luciano Huck, with Huck visiting Santana’s family in the favelas.
With an average of 20 million people watching the show each week, Huck’s Cauldron tops all viewing ratings of its time slot and is broadcast to the entire Brazilian territory, as well as to 115 countries via Globo International.
In his studio appearance, Santana received words of support from the likes of former WSL surfing world champion Gabriel Medina and Brazilian bodyboard legend Guilherme Tamega during his appearance on the high-rating television show.
He then competed in the “Now or Never” contest where he won the cash prize of R $30,000. Santana, who is currently forced to share a bed with his widow mother, gave the money to his family so they could build a second bedroom and bathroom for their home in the Favela.
The interview and contest can be viewed here and, despite being entirely in Portuguese, it is worth viewing purely to see where Socrates lives!
