Event one of the 2017 Inverted Queensland Bodyboarding Titles presented by Pride Bodyboards will be greeted with a clean 3ft+ of East swell when the one day event gets underway Saturday morning. Event officials are expecting an actioned packed day that will be stored in the memory bank for many years to come when competitors paddle out at one of Sunshine Coast’s pristine beach breaks.

2016 Queensland Drop Knee Champion Jason Trims (Wurtulla, Qld) will revel in the large surf conditions as he battles it out against tough competition to defend his prestigious Queensland title. Trims local knowledge will give him an advantage as he aims to move one step closer to back to back titles.

Last year’s Over 45’s Men’s feud has been reignited as Justin Becker (Mudgeeraba, Qld),  Graeme Ellis (Elanora, Qld) and Greg Purtle (Helensvale, Qld) prepare to face off for bragging rights and one of the two qualification spots up for grabs into the Australian Surf Festival. An event one win on the Sunshine Coast will place competitors in a strong position to qualify for the prestigious Queensland Bodyboarding Team.

Other notable names who are preparing to do battle this weekend are two time Open Women’s champion Britt Ladley (Mermaid Waters, Qld), 2016 Open Men’s champion Jye Love (Buddina, Qld) and 2016 Queensland Under 16 Men’s runner-up champion Alex Boggis (Peregian Springs, Qld).

This Saturday’s event will place competitors on step closer to the prestigious Queensland’s Bodyboarding State Championship across the Open Men’s, Open Women’s, Open Drop Knee, Under 16 Mixed, Under 18 Boys, Over 35 Men’s and Over 45 Men’s divisions.

The Inverted Queensland Bodyboarding Titles, presented by Pride Bodyboards is the two event series that will determine the Queensland Bodyboarding team set to compete at the biggest gathering of surfers and bodyboarders in the country at the Australian Surf Festival held from July 29-August 15.

The Inverted Queensland State Bodyboarding Titles, presented by Pride Bodyboards is proudly supported by the Naturally Refreshing Sunshine Coast Council, the Queensland Government, Coastalwatch Plus, Australian Skin Cancer Clinics, HIF, Surfing World Magazine and Surfing Queensland.

Two event series dates:
Event 1: Sunshine Coast – 11th of February
Event 2: Gold Coast – 10th – 11th of June
